Someone bit!
He gave his life to save a number of other demon half breeds from a Demonic, Nazi-like group called the Scourge. They created a "light" bomb that when detonated would destroy all those with any humanity in them over a large area.
Doyle pulled the plug on the bomb, saving everyone, but not before the bomb's effects took him.
It was a great episode...
