in the cinema version Evan Treborn decides that the problem is his relationship to Kayley so he goes back to when they firt met (a kids birthday party) and tells her he hates her and doesn't want to see her again. she moves with her mother leaving her abusive dad behind and all is good for both of them. the last scene is when the meet in NY, they walk past each other, of course she doesn't know who he is.
Personally I like the DC better, I love dark twisted endings
