I don't know.... If he's offering to pay the vet bills and agrees to keep his dog confined to his property, I'd let the dog live.
I know you're angry about your dog, and it's really not fair to the little guy. This guy has an illegal breed of dog if it has any wolf blood whatsoever.
However if you do decide to get his dog put down, I'd wait until after he pays your vet bills.
