Having just moved to NYC I asked that was one of the first questions I asked co-workers. If its a short trip I round up the change and add $1. What most people do not realize (this coming from an NYC cab driver) is that the drivers pay 33% of the meter to the cab authority. If I understood him correctly -- they keep the rest. Curious if this is true or not -- anyone else know?
