Sure, she brought it on herself (and btw she may not have brought the weight on herself - some people have a hormonal imbalance that makes them gain weight even when they're eating right and exercising) but I'll grant you that she brought the "I'm not moving off this couch" bit on herself.

I hate when people use the hormonal imbalance excuse for people that get this bad. Yes, some people have hormonal imbalances and will always be a bit chunky. But far less people actually have this than we like to pretend...and even if you have that, it simply doesn't make you get *this* obese. You will be a little bit chunkier than the average person for your whole life with a hormonal imbalance but that doesn't mean you will consistantly gain weight.
I'm not saying my life is perfect - far from that. But if I do something unreasonable, I can usually tell that it's unreasonable. And I have had times where my friends had to scream at me to get me to do something I knew I should be doing and I was grateful for it later on. If my friend was in this state, I wouldn't let it go this long. After the first month (at the most) I would either tell her I'm not bringing her food anymore and she's going to have to get off her ass and get it or take some other extreme measures. You just don't let this happen. There's no excuses.
