That's similar to my weight loss four years ago. I am down to 190 from 260. I started exercising with Taekwondo. I travel too much for my job though, I had to drop it. But it was a great start to training. Now I run marathons and my longest bike ride so far is 160mi.
Keep working on it. After a couple months of forcing yourself to attend, eventually you will become hooked. When training I always think about women, that helps. I also think about people I dislike, or just aggravating things in general to keep me going.
I didn't run outside until I ran on the treadmill for a year. Running outside is boring especially if you are new to it.
