I got into Mensa based on my GRE scores, and it was boooo-ring. The people in the chapter may have been smart, but they were no more interesting than my regular group of friends, who are all pretty damn smart anyhow.

I used to think I was undersold, but as I get older, I am more and more accepted I'm just not that bright a person, Im not saying I'm an idiot, Im just a person with pretty average intellect and skills.

You should check out a book called "multiple intelligences." I can't remember who wrote it, but it debunks classical intelligence theory. The gist is "what is 'smart'"? I'm a fair musician, but I can balance a $4.6 billion budget to within a couple hundred dollars. I'm pretty good at strategy, but not very good at directing an organization. I'm very creative with three-dimensional media, but I can't draw to save my life. I kick ass at Trivial Pursuit but I still have to carry the digits to do subtraction on paper, and forget about doing math in my head! There's more to being intelligent that test scores and knowing facts.
