Alright, this just makes me mad. So, I've intentionally not installed WMP 9 for various reasons, and just recently, like a good computer user, I installed Service Pack 2 on my Windows XP installation. Apparently, however, Windows Media Player 9 is installed along with Service Pack 2. This is something I did not know. I can't for the life of me think of an explanation as to why upgrading to WMP9 would be so critical that it's included in SP2.
Clearly, I can't uninstall SP2. I prefer to not be attacked with worms when I happen to be in Windows

However, I do NOT want WMP9. Does anyone know a way for me to uninstall 9 and replace it with WMP8? I eralize that uninstalling a program is a lot to ask from a Microsoft product, but I've got to ask. Hopefully there's some way to hack around and get WMP8 back
