I went to the Charger mini camp last month and Rivers doe throw the ball hard but he has a bit of a side arm. It looks a bit funny but his arm was stronger than Brees.
I was impressed with the new field goal kicker from Iowa, can't remember his name though. The Chargers got rid of Carney a few years ago, he was one of the better kickers in the NFL at that time!

I think you're talking about Nate Kaeding. He is a hell of a kicker.
