For anyone else looking at this thread ( since I am as usual quite late) I would recommend that if you are only going to own one suit, it should be timeless and appropriate for those occasions you are likely to wear it. This will likely be interviews and weddings and funerals. Therefore mid weight, dark blue or charcoal and with minimal, if any, pattern.
