In any other game, I would agree with doing this. But in Doom 3, the shadows are a huge part of the experience. Seeing a zombie cast shadows as it emerges from the darkness, or the fleeting shadow of an Imp as it scurries towards you is part of what makes the game so impressive. Playing without shadows, you are not truly playing Doom 3
