Usually The status bar tells you the actual link that you will be directed to or straight IP addresses instead of domain names. Those are dead give aways. Hyphenated domains are different. For example:
http://service-visa.com is not a sub domain of Visa it is a completely different domain, while
http://service.visa.com is a subdomain of Visa.
The one I missed on was Earthlink, i think I was just impatient as usual.
