I am convinced that Gore won Florida and so the country and so is the President. With that as an unproven start, given that a moderately reasonable person (I used to be pre-Bush) could believe that Bush is an usurper, I think we can call it proven that he lacks a popular mandate.
Stipulate that and that many of his pet programs, from his economic plans based entirely on tax breaks to his faith based initiatives to his pushing of domestic exploration to the exclusion of energy conservation, are extreme conservatism, and you can understand how someone who leans moderately liberal would tilt all the way over at the mere sight of the man.
Hate? I don't think so, but there is no figure in American politics past or present who I hold in greater contempt. Joe Mccarthy would be the next closest. Now some members of his administration - Rove, Ashcroft, Wolfowitz, are a lot more clear cut.
