I did the apartment thing once and hopefully never again. I have excellent hearing and it was like living in one big house with assholes all around making noise and yelling.
I quickly moved to a Duplex and built a house while there. I am fortunate to be living in an area where housing is at least affordable. My house payment is cheaper than most of the rent rates that I have seen quoted here.
