Well, my tip is not really a grooming tip, but related to your music tip. Do you really hate house chores? Doing the laundry? Cleaning? Washing dishes? Cooking? Cause they bore you to death?
My solution: I have a MP3 player, on which I load up with audiobooks. I will then listen to the audiobooks while doing these menial tasks. Its great, cause you're being entertained, your mind is kept busy, but you have your hands free for doing whatever task, which only requires a fraction of your attention anyways. It really makes those chores a lot less painful.
And yeah, music is great for working out... or if you commute by bike (which I do a lot), its really nice to listen to music or the aforementioned audiobooks.
