So I'm online now with my new service! No more trip's to Kinko's internet cafe

A quick question: Do I need to install the Road Runner software? I think it's only for the email, and I'm not planning on using it. Also, do I need to set up a new network account or anything? I'm used to having DSL, and while it's generally always-on, sometimes I needed to re-login. Is it different for cable?
