It's improved my life the same way it has yours, but particularly in its consistency. No matter what is happening in my life, I can always rely on TFP to be here for me (internet access and Hal's server capabilities willing). Moving to another state or country or side of the world will be unlikely to deter me from logging on. I never feel like I have to keep things to myself because I'm going through something too big or burdensome to post somewhere on the site (that's why we have journals). Even an ubertuber-Supple Cow break-up probably won't keep me away from here like it might keep me from visiting physical old haunts. It's an experience as real as I make it and it's never too imposing because I always have the choice not to visit the site.
