In one apt we lived in we happened to get a temporary infestation. Told the owner who lived in the same building (home with apt attached) and his new wife was terrified of mice. So he searched diligently for all possible openings to seal. Hubby and I set snap traps around that his Dad gave us. It was bad though, the traps were old and didn't snap hard. Two out of the three mice were quite alive when we found then (after hearing the snap) hubby took his BB gun and finished them quickly though. We felt bad for the creature but wild mice don't belong in my home. There aren't a lot of clean safe ways of removing them. I do like that box idea. Will have to look for that next time we get an uninvited critter.
