Too freakin' many...
I had just moved into my new apartment, well new for me, and the concept of insuring my belongings was foreign to me. I didn't have a hell of a lot either, the basics, television set, (old), vcr (old) book box that I had since college.
The theives broke in thru a locked kitchen window, and left a very clear but very useless handprint on the window stole all that -- plus about 30 prerecorded video tapes, a leather jacket (my only winter coat), my grandmothers emerald earrings which had sentimental value but no real monetary value and left me with my bed and clock radio-- and that's cause the radio was under a towel.
And they also had theballs to go thru my change jar and take all but the pennies... knocked over on the floor.
I remember calling 911, after first calling the police station first and being told to call 911, and in true 911 fashion, I was left on hold for 7 minutes, then when the operator came on the line, she asked if the burglers were still in the apartment (yes, they are standing behind me making me call you)

A few years back I was on the metroliner from NY to DC -wasnt a crowded train so i didn't have a seatmate. I had my palm pilot and my cell phone on top of my bag, and I fell asleep on the train -- when i woke up -- my phone (and of course every phone number I had ever had), my palm, and a Mont Blanc pen were all gone...
