Thing is, it's not lying when I say it can match and surpass the X-Box. As you say, it's what you do with it that counts. Games on the X-Box have pretty much no chance for optimisation - the best performance they can get is what you'd expect from a PC. There's just that much power the Altivec engine brings, it's what makes a 1Ghz Mac beat the pants off a 1Ghz PC in the apps that support it. Also, the custom ATi chip renders up to 6 layers at once, so when it comes to special effects, the GameCube has the edge. About all the X-Box has over it is a polycount, which don't mean jack these days.
