I am not freaked out by either, but am wary when a large spider crawls across the room towards me...
To most people the phobia seesm to come from other peoples reaction when you first encounter it. I know lots of Catholics who are physically sick when they hear or see a snake.
Curiuosly some of these people are also afraid of bird's wings (not birds just the wings)
