I think you have the same Browser Hi-jacker I had.. Thing is a beeotch.. Finally just did a reformat and reload.

However, I didn't have any HDD issues with it. Pretty sure you have 2 different issues. I would tackle the browser issue first.

Come to think of it, I did have an issue with a HDD where it would show up, then not show up. Is it a 40GB Maxtor?

Anyways, drive could be on it's way to the great gear morgue.. If you do get it to work, BACK IT UP ASAP.
