The basic principle is that all food spillage is incinerated, leaving an ash residue to be wiped away with a sponge. Try a half hour for starters-the door won't unlock until it is safe to do so. I wouldn't put anything in the oven not approved by the oven manufacturer as nasty things can happen at high temperatures.
