I agree with Jacob's Ladder.
Johnny Got His Gun -- great movie, extremely painful subject matter (blind, deaf war vet with no arms or legs phantasizes endlessly in his hospital bed).
Moulin Rouge -- great movie, but total overkill. They packed so much singing, dancing, and spectacle into that thing that I was literally exhausted by the time it was over.
Most Spielberg movies. Even the great ones are one-trick ponies. The second time around, you notice how superficial everything is beneath the flash, splash, and loud noises.
