She Walks In...
She walks in briskly leaving her shoes at the door
Wearing a purple country dress strictly worn for the summer
Her long hair covers her face and eyes because she walked in the rain again
No smile upon her face just that petrifying stare
No words need to be said because our hearts and minds feel as one
She walks to the bathroom for a shower
Taking off her jewelry, setting down her purse, and stripping off the dress
That clings to her strong body like fire clings to its fuel
She only gives me one look with a smile before she enters the shower
I stand there with a blank look
I thought she was gone from my life
But she never leaves
Always coming back seeking solace and warmth
You’d think a woman like her wouldn’t care for such things
She has the stare of a viper, right before it strikes
She looks at me as if I were prey
But soon found out I’m equally matched in speed and diligence
A snake will tend to veer awat from the trail of a mongoose
But she is of a different breed
As I hear the water flowing as it falls from her flesh down to the tile
I decide that this time I will pick my book back up
So often have I joined her in the shower
But I don’t like being the predictable one
Soon I’m in a trance, reading about a whole other world
And barely notice when the water stops
She makes the slightest bit of noise while grooming her body
As she puts her things back on
And heads for the door
Not a word was shared but pages of thoughts were ushered
We both know what we do to each other
And yet these games always go unfinished…..
