Well, software wise, anyway. All you have to do is call them and say your CDs were scratched when you opened the box.
They'll ask you to read the UPC label, but generally you can read off any old BS to them and they'll send you a new copy. I did this with Visual C++ 6.0 Pro and Visual Basic 6.0 Pro a few years ago. I got the VB6 product code off of a product manual (they sell em separately as books in book stores). The C++ one.. I actually gave them a UPC code from a RedHat Linux box
Had new copies in my mailbox a week later.
This was before broadband was in my area, so downloading 600+ megs from usenet was unheard of.
With hardware, it's just as easy, but I personally have never tried it. Friends of mine have. If you have, say, Intellimouse explorer, just call and say that it broke and you need a replacement. They NEVER ask you to send your old one in!
