Well, all I can say is that although it is not as good as it could have been, it did maintain the creepy feel that set apart 1 & 2.
Some thoughts
(1) I'm glad they kept the haunts to a minimum. Too hard. I want to play like a real thief, not a supernatural thief.
(2) There are sites where you can download new textures for the bots, Garrett and basically the whole game. Not badly done.
(3) I'm just glad it runs at all on my PC. I've got a pretty decent system, but the GeForce4 4200 seemed to scare me. But, at 800x600 on my TV, it looks great. My 19" monitor died two months ago and I'm too cheap to get a new one.
(4) This game is certainly not as hard as the original Thief games were. I don't need a FAQ for this game. Now, whether that means the first two were too hard or this game is too easy is debatable.
(5) I'd like to have more freedom. Anybody ever play Wing Commander: Privateer? You could ignore the entire plot and just blast and make money. I'd like to have the option to be able to just steal from people.
(6) What kind of Thief doesn't go on roofs? Seriously. Bad design there.
(7) This game has had me moving in my seat. I'm physically trying to dodge an arrow.
(8) People - be patient. This isn't supposed to be doom3 or anything. The technology for this game is underdeveloped, but has plenty of potential. Ragdoll physics are realistic, as long as you don't mind the human body having bone and tendons... DX2 wasn't great, and T3 is better...perhaps T4 will be even better.
