I have had the same exact problem, twice.

The problem relates to the private address that Windows has assigned.

I spent days trying to get Windows to release the private address and allow DHCP. Everything I tried, failed. I could even ping the router, but couldn't get DHCP.

I gave up on the third day and formated. I would be curious if anybody has ever been able to go from the private address (167....something) as this was a royal pain in the ass.
