This is probably still an "everyday" kind of thing in the UK, I could be wrong though.
I've been talking to a few people about this and thought...why not make a thread on it.
I have a friend that runs a tea house about an 1 1/2 hours out side atlanta, and I am taking my 11 year old daughter for her first "high tea" tomorrow.
The place is really really neat, its in a house that was built in the early 1800's and when you get there the first thing you have to do is pick out "dress" up clothes from her collections....old timey hats, dresses, gloves, furs-coats or wraps. Then you settle down for whatever kind of service you reserved for.
Growing up, tea parties with my mother are some of my favorite memories. Now that we are adults we still get together and do this and its just as much fun in my 30's as it was when I was little.
High tea is always my favorite because for a small amount of money you get a lot.
Do any of you still do these kinds of things with your mothers and/or daughters? My daughter and I have them at home but she is REALLY looking forward to doing this tomorrow.
Here is the link for the particular tea house I go to
