Wallets and pocketbooks were stripped down to their essentials last Sunday night, June 20, when the 14th annual Broadway Bares fundraiser -- themed "Now Showing" -- swung into full gear at the Roseland Ballroom.
One of the most eagerly anticipated springtime benefits for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA), the event hauled in a total of $525,000, topping last year's sum by $75,000.
Over 200 of Broadway's most comely, shapely men and women strutted their stuff at the benefit, which provided a sexy spin to classic cinema scenes -- from "Rocky" and "Flashdance" to "Singin' in the Rain" and James Bond flicks.
Broadway Bares was founded and this year was executive-produced by choreographer Jerry Mitchell; Jodi Moccia, his longtime associate, directed. Sharing hosting duties were Swoosie Kurtz, currently in "Frozen," and Shirley Jones and Patrick Cassidy, currently in "42nd Street."
There were also performances by Christopher Sieber ("Chicago," "Into the Woods"), John Tartaglia ("Avenue Q"), and Jai Rodriguez ("Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," "Rent").
