Kirk Hammet stands out as one of my all time favorites, with of course James Hetfield as a close second.
To Dustallica.. James is a frontman, and a rif expert, and a very talented musician. But.. And he would tell you himself, as I have heard him say in many interviews, he could never write and perform a guitar lead anything like Kirk. And that to me is what makes Kirk Hammet a great musician. Now.. Could Kirk come up with rifs with the crunch and growl that James pours out? I doubt it. But thats not his job. And that is what makes Metallica the well oiled metal machine that they are. And now with Rob Trujio, they WILL be unstopable.
