looks aside, if they built a cheap, Toyota reliable car that was fuel efficient etc. that would be fine; but all the reports I've heard are that they are put together all half-assed taking every possible shortcut and generally producing an annoyingly inferior product and that is unacceptable. I could deal with the looks, the lack of power etc as long as it was functionally reliable.
