You might want to take a look at the Zalman 7000 series, specifically the 7000-AlCu (because of lower weight). The coolers you selected are some 600 or 700 grams at least, where the official maximum is 450 for a P4 cooler. That means problems when moving the computer...
I happen to be on a quest for a silent PC, and have the following suggestions:
- First of all, you need a good case, not too light (lots of vibration), and not too open (lots of space for noise to come through). I have a Chieftec BX-series case, and it's quite good, even if the PSU is kinda noisy compared to others (comparable to a standard 80mm case fan running at 1800 rpms).
- high-performance videocards make loads of noice. That is probably the loudest fan in the system. I replaced my stock 9800 pro fan with an Arctic VGA silencer and can't hear it anymore. If you won't play games, get a card without a fan, but make sure there will be enough air circulation!
- CPU coolers from Intel suck. Get a Zalman/Thermaltake/other one that is silent and effective. Think about getting a slower version of the P4 - the lower-speeds from a given generation generally create less heat, which means less noise for the fan.
- PSUs make loads of noise, get an Enermax/Q-Technology/other brand that is silent (and efficient, like the Enermax - saves you heat!)
- After that, there's the harddisk, where a silencer (with enough heat transfer!) is a good idea.
- Case fans are noisy. Get a fan controller and silent fans (Papst or something. Kinda expensive, other brands may be comparable)
- Finally, to get that last bit of extra silence, you could try sound dampening material in the case. I'm busy finding the right stuff right now, but Magic Fleeze and Dynamat seem to be okay (kill high-pitch sounds, like Pax-Mate would, but also stops the case from vibrating).
