You gave no context, therefore it is out of context.

She's talking about how people should give up more of their money in the form of higher taxes, for "the common good". It's just that "roll back the tax cut" sounds better than "raise taxes". It doesn't matter if her statements were aimed at some people at a political fundraiser, Bill Gates, or starving orphans. Socialism is socialism.

So all taxation is socialism? Interesting.

And when did I say anything about how defecit spending is a good thing? I advocate lower taxes AND lower spending, which is a view not currently supported by either party because they're so far to the left. The current political climate is one of Republicans advocating spending more on social programs, and Democrats freaking out that any given program is not expensive enough.

Lets not forget 500 billion for our Iraq adventures...of course, I don't remember the Democrats "freaking out" about spending more money on this particular program.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Populism -
Republicans are indeed trying to show that they're "looking out for the common man" by increasingly supporting expanded unemployment benefits, Medicare, prescription drug subsidies, and so on while at the same time being socially conservative and *claiming* to be in favor of a small decentralized government. I consider that view to have pretty strong populust elements.

Forgetting the contradiction in goals that you just stated, I don't feel that the faux populism of the Democrats or the Republicans has done much for the common man lately.
