Well, KWSN, that yellow weird jack is for Dolby, I believe. My sound card has that, and if I recall correctly, that connects to my subwoofer, and the black and green are for front and back speakers. It's too dark down here to check. Heh.
When I want to just use 2 speakers, there's a SEPARATE jack for that. I kind of want to say that's a different shade of green, but I'm not sure. Do you know what model sound card you have by any chance?
Alright, and for drivers... you're not looking for a "codec." Those are for audio/video compression/decompression. You're looking for a driver. To find what sound card you have and what driver you need, device manager would be fastest. If you don't know how to get there, let us know which OS you have, and someone can give you a walkthrough. Or, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I can give you a more detailed explanation.
