Right, that's fine. At least you are planning on Katie. It's worse when you name them Katherine, call them Katherine, but other people (primarily teachers) take it upon themselves to nickname her Kate or Katie.
For example my wife's brother is named Matthew and goes by Matthew. No one calls him Matt. Oh, except all his teachers who won't call him Matthew despite numerous requests from his parents. How disrespectful is that?
