The Greek Cypriot nation is a lot larger, more populous, and more prosperous, and a large part of that prosperity is derived from tourism. It has never been a part of modern Greece, but is very Greek in culture. The only country that recognizes Turkish Cypriot independence is (you guessed it) TURKEY. /end rant.
This in no way takes away from the interest of the article.

heh, you know, I thought about editing my post after making it to clarify that I did know that. Looks like I should have. Fact is, I have no question that the Greek Cypriot government - which is what this concerns - is heavily influenced by the Greek government, which is becoming famous lately for it's draconian policies regarding sexuality and other things such as video games and so forth. Besides, the Greek Cypriot nation is so much so practically Greece that there have been multiple attempts to get it unified, stopped mainly by Turkish objections.
