edit: I just ended a game using the regular Tiger in a "strokes" match. When I finished, it asked me if I wanted to "create/save user profile". When I hit yes, it went to the keyboard screen to create a new profile. How can I transfer the stats and cash to my previously made guy?

I believe created players are attached to profiles.
So before you play, load your profile.. And then when you win money it will be attached to that profile.
Again, this is assuming you are playing 2004. In your post you mentioned 2003, so I am not sure which version you are playing..
In 2004 though, you can just play with your profile, earn money, and then create your golfer using that profile and the money will be there.
