It seems you're still getting a better deal from Amazon, excluding the shipping.
I use iTunes - I buy singles from time to time and it's easy to move them between my Mac and PC.
I'd rather buy the CD because I can rip the tracks in whatever format and bit-rate I want. I only buy the singles if I'm unsure about the entire CD.
