ratbastid - that's what I've heard in more than one source and from my Dr also.
I been taking this pill for over 3/4 of a year now. My clinic had just received their first starter packs the day before my apt.
Some Dr's are even going to the point of giving the pills constantly and stopping all periods. My Dr prefers the Seasonale method. The longer you go between periods the thicker the lining on the uterus becomes. So far they've not found any adverse effects of a thicker uterine lining. Except that when the time comes that the woman would WANT to become pregnant it can be more difficult - and when she does quit the pill and allows herself a period it will be much longer because of the accumulation of lining. The pills does slow that accumulation though so it's not too bad.
There are several reasons the Dr gave me the Seasonale pill. #1. I get Migranes EVERY time I get my period and I have to take Maxalt which works my raising my blood pressure up to 10 points. With my blood pressure being low it's not a big deal for now. But the migranes are a big deal. #2. I run just on the edge of anemia all the time and have to take Iron suppliments. When I have my period it dropps my hemoglobin to the point that if we can't get it back up in a reasonable amount of time I've been "threatened" with hospitalization. I do eat plenty of red meats and dark green vegetables - the reason for my anemia - unknown - except I don't seem to assimilate Iron as well as I should.
Because of those things and because of our lifestyle as well we are thrilled with this pill.
When it comes to pregnancy - I know what I felt like before about the time I missed my first period. I had already noticed some constant nausea and breast tenderness. I just knew. I rarely get scared anymore even if I miss my period for real because I know there are so many other changes in your body within just a month of conception. It's not a big worry for me.
