I know whats complex to some isnt complex at all to others. I feel that games like Operation flashpoint, and Rainbow 6, those tactial games are a lil too complex for me to enjoy. If the games give you proper tutorials/begining levels, and ramp you up in a proper manner, then you wont have to refer to manuals. Simple controlls or proper ramping makes Deluxe a happy boy.
I know splinter Cell (on X-Box) felt complex to me when i first started, i went through the small tutorial and got a general understanding of the controlls, the tutorial didnt show you every thing, but it gave you a basic understanding. So after playing the first mission i was pretty good, i was spoted a bunch of times and fumbled a little bit to get my gun. It wasnt till a couple of levels later that i was a efficent Splinter Cell. That game had good ramping too, where as other games i have played, throw you into level and teach you along the way, by either pausing the game before you encounter something, or by just displaying text. That works well in some instances, but if there are alot of controlles and they cram it all into one level, I usualy forget some stuff, and have to flip through the manual.
I really enjoyed Mark of Kri's learning cure, its was very smooth. To the best of my memory i think they tought you how to use each weapon before you went out to a level useing your new weapon. That game utlized the PS2 controller well. As did ape escape from what i can rember, i heard good praise for its utilaztion of the PS Dualshock, never played it though. Im still glad they make simple games, all of nintedo's stuff seems to be very simple, thus making all of there games very fun to play.
I tend to ramble, i think ill stop for now . Hope most of it made sence.

I'm pretty sure Steel Batallion was the game that advertised a controller you sat in,that was supposed to be like controlling the mech or whatever you piloted in that game.
I remember EGM had a couple pics of it,was huge.
