Across town was a place where a platoon might have been slaughtered.
If the people (and I use this term loosely) who ransacked these buildings had no respect for their own countries relics, why should we risk lives to defend them.
I believe the command made the right decisions in how to take the city of Baghdad and some relics happen to be just another casuality of war.
