Evolution of gaming and my problem with it (well not really)

Used to be that I could pull a game straight out of the box plug it in and jump straight into the game without figuring out the buttons. Ya know, A for jump, B for jump, and directional pad for, moving. But now, the gaming industry has evolved so much it seems to where certain games are almost impossible to play without reading the manual. I walked into a Game Stop and grabbed a X-box controller to what seemed like a regular normal army fighting game. However, there were so many buttons that I had no idea what I was doing at all. I just wanted to grab the controller and blow everyone off the screen in frustration but I couldn't even do that. BUT!

I think that this evolution of gaming into a more complex system definately has its benefits such as being able to control more. Besides, if technology gets to me too much, no one is stopping me from popping out the NES and playing it old school :-) What do you guys think of the change in video games?
