Norton antivirus problem

I have a (legit) copy of Norton on my pc, but I've been offline for about 5 weeks, and now when I try and run the liveupdate thing, it wont run and says I am not online, while, apparently I am.
Has anyone ever heard of this, or have any clue? My pc is on XP btw.
