I used to be prejudiced about NASCAR, but as I have done more research into motorsports in general I've changed my way of thinking a bit. Many NASCAR drivers come from other forms of open-wheel, formula type racing. They have the same skills as rally, f1, and other drivers. What really opened my eyes was a few years ago when I read in an auto mag (can't remember which one), that a few high profile NASCAR drivers had gone to a world rally championship (not WRC) and done really well. If you just scoff and say "pth, those guys just turn left, anyone can do that", you should really pay attention, because those guys are doing a lot of the same things as other professional race car drivers do (car control, racing line, close quarters jockying for position).
