It was a plugin. Not a very good one, actually. Just an orc model, made taller, red, and wings added (which it turns out are from another mod). I've pretty much abandoned that character... I made it to level 30 with him in a few weeks, it just wasn't very much fun. There's only so much random evil one can do in Morrowind. I'm starting a new paladin character now in the Imperial Cult (and maybe the Temple) who will be purely do-good. It's really, really hard not to steal anything at all. With my balrog character who had no morals, I had accrued several thousand dollars before I reached level 2. Now I barely have enough money to use silt striders.
