configuring static/eliminating ghost ip's on a linksys router
recently, i've been trying to set up a webserver to run from my house. i have a static ip from bellsouth dsl, and i have been attempting to set up my router as a static default gateway and static wan address. i know how to configure windows to have a static ip, and as far as the wan i'm most of the way there, i just have one question.
the information i'm asked to fill in is as follows:
host name
domain name
lan ip address 192.168.2.1
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
wan connection type STATIC IP
specify wan ip address MY PUBLIC IP
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway adress ??? (should this be the router--tried and
it didn't work--or the gateway my access provider uses)
DNS 192.168.1.254
note that there is no information here that would allow my network to be compromised without first knowing the public ip, i was just wondering what i'm supposed to put in for the default gateway addy of the wan. not worried about the domain and host names yet, i'll get there if i can ever set up a static ip
