Lord of the Rings - The Return of the Kings rules for this era without a doubt.
I voted for Star Wars because of the Lucas ingenuity he brought to space travel and sci fi creativity. The original Star Wars was such a fresh look at an old subject and with the limited technology of that era Lucas was able to pull off an amazing blockbuster feat of film making.
