generally, my advice is
1) don't eat junk food - do you know why it's called "junk" ? well then
2) eat more protein
3) try to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals a day instead of 3 larger meals
4) do high weight/low reps weights a few times a week
mind you I haven't put on much weight, but I AM getting muscles, and that' what I want out of it.
But I bet you can find lots of threads in this section on the same subject, with more knowledgeable people than I answering your question
