I saw it tonight. I'm not bothered by the changes. Some things work on the page that don't work well on film. Also, if there were no changes, we'd have at least a five hour movie. A few things could have been explained better for those who haven't read the book, but those parts were mostly minor details.
I am worried about the conversion of the rest of the series from book to movie. Book four is almost as long as the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, which was three three hour movies and still left parts out. It is not at all possible to condense it down into one movie and do the book any justice.
